A private visit of two medieval cities of Normandy, full of history

Accompanied by your driver-guide, you will enjoy a private visit the cities of Caen and Bayeux.

Normandy is home to the famous William the Conqueror. With Viking origins, the Norman duke established his capital city in Caen. He later extended his domination over England after defeating the Saxons at Hastings in 1066. Follow in his footsteps by visiting his castles and seeing the famous tapestry created to honor his deeds.

Caen was much damaged during the liberation of Normandy in 1944 by the Allied troops, but the town kept remarkable buildings including a medieval castle started by William the Conqueror, and completed by his son, Henry Beauclerc. Part of his legacy are the two magnificent abbeys where he and his wife were buried in the 11th century.

The medieval city of Bayeux boasts a rich architectural heritage. Aside from the cathedral in the Neo Romanesque and Gothic styles, Bayeux retains beautifully preserved timber-framed houses, mansions flanked with towers, renaissance town houses and elegant private residences.

In addition to this tour, follow your stay around the history of Normandy by visiting the D-Day landing beaches with a driver-guide, or by bike! You will discover the historic Battle of Normandy and in specific Omaha Beach and the major American military cemetery.
